SUMMER READY: PACKING THE PERFECT CHILDREN’S SUN AND BEACH BAG
With everything in my life, it seems as though when things are organized, they just run much more smoothly. Whether it be our house, the fridge, my car, or even my handbag, when things are orderly, life just seems a little bit easier to do. With a household of 3 girls, we rely heavily on being prepared and staying organized. We always remember to restock items that we use from our diaper bag and try to avoid having instances where we’re out of essentials. Have you ever been out of the house and run out of wipes? Not fun! Especially when we’re in a hurry, which is pretty much all the time, or for spontaneous outings, having our bags ready to go is a huge time and stress saver!
Here in Vegas, summer means a lot of time at the local splash pad, water amusement parks, or just a local diving hole (neighbor’s pool). With most days reaching well over 100 degrees, it’s absolutely imperative that before we leave the house, everyone puts on sun protection. At Mila and Maya’s daycare, they have water days a few times a week where the kids come to school with their swimsuits and during recess they’ll have some time for water play so each girl has a lightly packed sun bag ready to go at all times.
Here are some essentials that go into our sun bag:
Sandals – I always try to keep an extra pair in our bag because you just never know when a strap can snap! You’ll always have a back up.
Hat – The rays around our neck of the woods can be pretty brutal so any kind of sun protection is essential.
Towel – We always carry an extra towel in case we ever need to dry off or to just line the car to catch the sand we drag in.
Sunglasses – Again, protection is key. Plus, babies in sunnies? Have you seen anything cuter??
Water – I always make sure that we pack PLENTY of water. The girls each have their own canisters and I have a huge 64oz for myself.
Snacks – We don’t leave the house without snacks and during the summer months, I try to pack as many fresh fruits as I can for the girls. Staying away from artificial sugars can help keep their bodies healthy!
Sunscreen – This one is a given. I cannot stress enough the importance of sun protection and it starts with sunscreen. Our fav is Aveeno Baby Continuous Protection Sensitive Skin Zinc Oxide Sunscreen SPF 50. It’s formulated with oat to help lock in moisture while the zinc oxide provides broad spectrum coverage. It’s hypoallergenic so it’s perfect for Madelyn’s sensitive skin and it’s tear free so I wont have to fight the girls putting it on!
You can pick up a bottle of Aveeno Baby Continuous Protection Sensitive Zinc Oxide Sunscreen SPF 50 at Walmart.
There you have it, my list for essentials for your summer SUN BAG! Be sure to keep your bags ready and packed because you never know what adventure awaits!
